Today has been a pretty good day here. We had film and then practice. Practice was shorter which was nice. This evening I made dinner which consisted of broccoli, potatoes, and salmon. It is alway nice to be able to have a home cooked meal. I finished the book of Esther today. What a neat book and so much evidence can be seen of God's providential and perfect plan being worked out.
Tomorrow we have scout at 11:00 a.m. and then practice at noon. It will be nice to be done early. I plan on coming back and trying my hand at making orange pomegranate bread. I will let you know how it goes and try to post a picture.
I wanted to share with you some notes from a message I listened to yesterday:
Give and Take
November 8, 2015
Pastor Steven Furtick
Joshua 21:33-45
*Don’t settle in a place where God hasn’t called you to settle but rather pass through.
Are you a giver or are you a taker?
You are full (filled with appointments, stress, busyness, etc.) but are you fulfilled?
- Lives have never been more full while souls have never been more empty.
- We have too much to live with and too little to live for.
“Givers, Takers, and Matchers”
Life is a gift! We serve a God who continuously gives to us (a “giving” God).
- Sometimes the things God took away from me resulted in me getting the greatest things.
- The more we give the fuller we get.
- Proverbs 11:34
- The world of the giver gets bigger and bigger.
- The world of the taker get smaller and smaller.
“The more you take the more you need. The more you give the more you have.”
“When you take where God has called you to give you will always come up empty.”
Are you consuming or are you contributing?
On the contrast some of us are empty because we don’t take what God gives; we don’t possess what God has promised (ex: peace, joy, etc.). Just because God promises something doesn’t mean we possess it. We have to be a give and a taker of the right things.
We don’t build a church in preference…we build a church on purpose.
God bless,
Megan
