My Thanksgiving in Turkey has been an AMAZING one J!! I do of course miss not being with my family, but the Lord graciously allowed me to fellowship with people over here. It is so neat to see how the Lord works.
Originally we were supposed to practice twice today, at 9:30 a.m. and then at 6:00 p.m. There was no way I was going to be able to get together with people today if we had two practices. Well, yesterday morning we were practicing and coach decides to shoot a half court shot. He told some of the girls standing next to him, “If the shot goes in, then no practice this afternoon”. Would you believe it, the shot went in!!! We have a game coming up on Saturday, and the morning practices are always light, consisting of shooting and lifting, so coach decided to practice last night. He then said he we would cancel the morning practice today! He not only canceled the morning practice, but he also moved up our other practice.
We practiced at 2:30 p.m. and then I was able to go over to dinner with a friend from church, to Chad and Mary’s house (a family that Catherine knows). It was so much fun being able to get a meal that totally resembles Thanksgiving in the States. I had some turkey with gravy, dressing, green beans, rice, and sweet potatoes. I also had something that I probably shouldn’t say on here, so I will give you a hint ;)…it starts with a p and ends with a k!!! So, the Lord provided and allowed me to have a superb Thanksgiving here in Turkey. I had so much fun at the family’s house! They have 5 kids ages 11, 9, 7, 5, and 3 J. It was such a blessing to be able to hang out with the parents and their kids…I love kids!! I watched "A Charlie Brown Christmas" with the family, and then it was bedtime for the kids. I headed out a little bit later! You don't want to be out by yourself late at night. Okay, well I am off to get ready for bed.
Enjoy the day with family and friends!!
Tomorrow we leave for Istanbul. We will play Besiktas on Saturday! Check back later for results on the game!
Thankful,
Megan
