Reading for today:
January 27th
Genesis 19/Luke 19
Genesis 19 – This is an incredible chapter. First off, God is merciful and saved Lot and his family from Sodom. The interesting thing of it is though, Lot’s wife decides to look back at the city after the Lord specifically said not to…she then was turned into a pillar of salt. What a great reminder for us to not “look back” on our past, but rather keep ever pressing forward and fighting for the truth, for what is right, and most importantly for our relationship with the Lord. He should be what matters most in all of our lives.
Luke 19 – In this passage Jesus addresses the tax collector Zacchaeus who everyone despised, yet Jesus reached out to him and called him to follow him. Jesus then talks about the principle of being wide stewards with what the Lord gives us. He blesses those who us their resources wisely. After all, what we think we “own” down on this earth is not really ours anyways. The chapter concludes with Jesus entering into Jerusalem on a donkey. If you stop and think about that what a picture of humility that is. In today’s culture Kings, Queens, or people of importance are usually escorted in quite an entourage of security vehicles and they themselves are riding high class in some sort of nice car. What does Jesus ride on? A donkey. I am so thankful we serve a God who was the ultimate perfect example for us.
Tomorrow it is back to the practice floor! Then we play again on Wednesday!
God bless,
