So, I have an awesome praise to share. I left my Bible on the bus from this past weekend's roadtrip. On Sunday I realized it, because I went to get my Bible to take to church and then remembered I forgot to grab it from the top shelf off of the bus. So, I texted one of my assistant coaches to let him know, and so he said we would check on Monday for it. Well, he checked on Monday for it without me, and he told me he did not find anything on the bus. I visually could remember in my mind where it was, so I told him thanks and that I would check when I got home after practice one more time to make sure I had not overlooked it. I went home and didn't see it, so today I asked him if he wouldn't mind letting me check myself. So, I went on the bus and didn't see it at first, but then I found it!!! I was glad to find it :) I mean thankfully with technology you can read the Bible on the internet, which I had been doing the past 2 days, but there is nothing like your own personal Bible you know? I had some notes from people in there, some note cards, and then of course verses underlined, etc. So yeah, ALL that to say that I now have my Bible back :).
Verses of the day:
Psalm 85:7 “Show us your unfailing love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation.”
If you look at the verses leading up to this, David addresses how the Lord forgave the people of their sin. Well, I guess the people have fallen back into sin and the Lord is not pleased with them. How many times are we guilty of sinning again and again! David then pleads to the Lord and asks him to not be angry, and to “show us your unfailing love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation”…WOW! The beauty of the Lord, is that no matter how many times we fail, He will pick us up, dust us off, and set us back on the correct path. Think about the awesomeness of the Lord and how He does display to us “unfailing love”. There are times I know where maybe a friend messed up, or I mess up, etc. It is at times like these, where I want to be able to show and display the kind of love Jesus showed us!
Proverbs 2:1-8 “My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. HE HOLDS VICTORY IN STORE FOR THE UPRIGHT, HE IS A SHIELD TO THOSE WHOSE WALK IS BLAMELESS, FOR HE GUARDS THE COURSE OF THE JUST AND PROTECTS THE WAY OF HIS FAITHFUL ONES.”
Amazing…I love these verses! How often are we truly searching for more and more knowledge about the Lord? The Lord is the author of wisdom! I think about the scholars and doctors who in man’s eyes are knowledgeable and smart, but TRUE wisdom and knowledge comes from the Lord. If we seek after the Lord, he promises to give us wisdom, victory, safety, and protection. Who doesn’t want to claim these promises…I know I do! My prayer is that I would yearn more and more for the Lord.
1 Timothy 1:15-17 “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason, I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.”
How great it is that Christ sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. Jesus truly is the only God and deserves all honor, all glory, and all praise!!
If you have the time, I recommend you check out the link below!! It is a video describing Jesus called, "Just Give Me Jesus" :)
