I then went to the store with some of my teammates to get some groceries. After the store I came home and tried to lay down for a little bit, but then the internet guy came, so I was busy with him for a little bit while he was hooking everything up.
I relaxed this evening at home. One of my teammates brought some soup she had made, so I ate that for dinner. I checked on Tonja later on in the evening. She is glad to be home :)! I then made some brownies this evening. I found an easy recipe online, so I thought I would give it a try. It involves using Nesquik.
Brownies Made With Nesquik
2/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon water
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cups NESTLÉ NESQUIK Chocolate Flavor Powder
1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350° F. and line an 8 inch metal pan with foil; spray foil with cooking spray.
Stir together flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
In a medium size (3 quart is good) microwave safe mixing bowl, melt butter for 1 minute on high. Quickly stir in sugar and water, then microwave mixture for 30 seconds to help melt sugar. Stir and let stand for about 3-5 minutes. Add vanilla and egg and stir until mixed. Stir in Nesquik, then add flour mixture and stir just until smooth. Fold in chocolate chips. Rap pan on counter to bring air bubbles to top.
Bake for 18 minutes. Let cool completely on a wire rack. Chill for an hour or so, then lift from pan and slice into 12 brownies.
Makes 12 brownies
On a side note I would like to add we now have internet in our apartments!! YAY! :)
Tomorrow I have therapy at 9 a.m. and then I will go workout after that. I may come back home, but not sure exactly. The team practices at 4 p.m. tomorrow, so I think I will be able to make it back for a few hours before I head to the gym to watch practice. I should have a pretty free evening tomorrow night, so I think I am going to try to do some cooking of some sort.
Thursday starts Bayram here in Turkey. It is a Turkish holiday, that will run through Monday of next week. Families will get together and they will sacrifice a sheep or cow and then will also eat a lot of food.
A little bit about Bayram taken from: http://www.allaboutturkey.com/bayram.htm
"Kurban Bayrami in Turkish (the "Feast of Sacrifice") is the great festival of Islam. It is also known as Baqri-Eid (the "Cow Festival") because its most important feature is the sacrifice of an animal (cow, goat, sheep, or other appropriate beast) in commemoration of the ram sacrificed by Abraham in place of his son. In Muhammad's time a camel was usually the animal sacrificed. The command to perform sacrifices is given in Surah 22.36 and although no specific day is fixed in the Qur'an the sacrificing of animals was already practiced on the last day of the pilgrimage by the pre-Islamic Arabs and the institution was duly retained. A special prayer, similar to the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer, is also offered on this day before the animals are sacrificed.
Every Muslim home is obliged to offer a sacrifice on this day. The meat may be eaten by the family but a distribution of a generous share to the poor should also be made. As the two Eids (bayrams) are festive occasions, it is unlawful to fast on these days. Fasting on Eid-ul-Adha (Kurban Bayrami) would, in fact, defeat the whole object of the festival for food is to be eaten on this day with a cheerful heart in remembrance of God's bounty and provision for mankind."
Well, I am up around 7:45 ish a.m. - whoop whoop!! So, it is bed time for me here soon :)
October 23rd - "Jesus Calling"
"As you turn your attention to Me, feel the Light of My Presence shining upon you. Open your mind and heart to receive My heavenly smile of approval. Let My gold-tinged Love watch over you and soak into the depths of your being. As you are increasingly filled with My Being, you experience joyous union with Me: I in you, and you in Me. Your Joy-in-Me and My Joy-in-you become intertwined and inseparable. I suffuse your soul with Joy in My presence; at My right hand there are pleasures forever-more."
God bless,
Megan
