To update from last night: The first practice went well! I learned all of the man to man offensive plays (we only have four, so it isn't too hard lol). I then did a lot of shooting, which I am finding out that they like to do a lot of over here. I like to shoot as well, so I'm a fan :)
For supper, I called in some pasta with chicken and a salad. Surprisingly, the portion was so big that I could not finish it!! The rest of the night I relaxed and talked with some of my family on Skype. Skype is a must have for anyone who is spending time overseas...it is great!
Today:
This morning we had practice that started at 9:30. I woke up and went and got breakfast around 8:30 with my teammates. Breakfast consisted of cheese, cucumbers, bread, and a small bowl of cornflakes (finally got my hands on some cereal ;) ). The morning practice consisted of going through plays 5 on 0 as well as putting in a few new plays. We did some positional development, and then we also lifted. The lifting is quite interesting overseas, because there is not a lot of equipment like I am used to having in the States.
*I posted a picture below of the "weight room" that you can check out.
Practice was finished in about an hour and a half and then we all went and got some lunch at the cafeteria. We got back to the apartment around 12:00 and then had a lot of down time in the afternoon. I talked with my family and also watched the Sunday service from Thomas Road Baptist Church, on my computer, which was great! It is always nice to be able to hear solid teaching from the Word. I also love listening to the music at the beginning of the service as well...very refreshing!
Evening practice started at 6:00 p.m. Practice went really well! The evening practice is more intense than the early practice, because we actually get to scrimmage full court which is great! Practice ended around 7:15 p.m. Dinner stops being served at 7:30, so coach always makes sure we can get over there in time to get some food before it closes. After practice we went to the restaurant on campus and had supper.
Oh, there is one thing I have to add while I am thinking about it. Once we get done with practice, Coach wants us to put on sweatpants and a shirt. He thinks that if we go outside sweaty that we will get sick. The funny thing is, is that the weather is still hot outside. Even when we got done practicing today and went into the weight room, he made us put on a shirt or long sleeve (the weight room was inside the building!!). FUN times overseas let me tell you what :)
It is a little after 10:00 p.m. now. I think my body is finally starting to get used to the time change. I don't really feel that tired, so I guess that is a good thing. When I notice the time change the most is at night when I am trying to go to sleep. I can only imagine what it will be like when I go home for Christmas for a few days and then have to come back. I am sure I will experience some jet lag for sure!
I think tomorrow I will be going to a store of some kind to get some food and a few other things that I need, so if I do, I will do my best to get some pictures. I haven't gotten to many yet, but plan on getting some tomorrow of other things as well :)
Oh and I just want to say that I have enjoyed sharing my stories and everyday life with you all...a lot of FUN : )
Until next time...
