God’s Perfect Peace
John 14:27 – “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
1. Where can we find peace?
a. JESUS – John 19
b. John 14:27 – Assurance that Jesus will provide peace.
c. PEACE – absence of turmoil and presence of blessings.
i. Offering well-being and security
ii. 2 types of peace: Peace with God and Peace before God
d. Romans 5:1-2 – Justified through faith we have peace with God.
JESUS’ PEACE IS NOT AN EXEMPTION OF TRIALS AND TURMOIL
2. Where we will not receive peace?
a. From the world
b. Jesus’ peace is selfless!
3. How do we make this peace ours?
a. KNOW THAT GOD IS IN CONTROL.
i. He is sovereign – God’s plans will succeed!
ii. Proverbs 16:9
iii. Hebrews 7:25
iv. 2 Timothy 1:12 – God will keep me
v. 2 Corinthians 9:8 – God will meet my needs.
b. PRAY
i. Philippians 4:6-7
c. LIVE IN OBEDIENCE
i. Obedience keeps us close to God
ii. When we sin it divides us
iii. Disobedience does not lead to peace
d. LIVE IN ANTICIPATION OF HEAVEN
i. Philippians 3:20-21
PEACE - A SOLITARY, EXCLUSIVE, FOCUS, and TRUST in God!!!
Through any trial, tribulation, joy, or praise we can say:
“For this I have Jesus…”
