Today was a busy day. Set out for the airport around 8:00 a.m. and then it was up in the sky by 9:15 a.m. We got into Istanbul around 10:30 a.m. and to our hotel by the time we got our bags and stuff around 11:30 a.m. We were whisked off to eat lunch and then we had down time until we left for practice.
Practice went well. Came back to the hotel, showered, and then at dinner. Dinner consisted of chicken, beef, and pilaf. Oh and leading up the meal we had salad, bread, tomato soup, and pasta. To finish off the meal we had chocolate pudding for desert.
After dinner we watched a little bit more film on Istanbul and then we have free time until 11:00 p.m. when we have to be in our rooms. I went to the store a little bit ago with "Mama Santos"...she is a player on my team from Brazil who is 37. I definitely do not play on playing when I am that age...professionally that is ha!
Well, it is bed time for me soon! Have a great rest of the day!
This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.— Romans 13:6 (NIV)
Thoughts on Today's Verse...Ouch! I hate taxes. But I have to admit, I enjoy many of the privileges and blessings that those taxes afford. Paul reminds us in Romans 13, that civil authorities are God's tools to hold back anarchy, chaos, and lawlessness. As a Christian, I'm immune to most laws because my faith in Jesus is going to regulate my behavior far more strictly than a legal code. But I do have a responsibility (I "owe" it, Paul says) to be a good citizen, a good financial manager, a nice respectful neighbor, and a person who willingly honors those who have merited it.
My Utmost For His Highest:
If you are going to be used by God, He will take you through a number of experiences that are not meant for you personally at all. They are designed to make you useful in His hands, and to enable you to understand what takes place in the lives of others. Because of this process, you will never be surprised by what comes your way.
Our Daily Bread:
It amazes me that 15 centuries later, the evidence of Rome’s presence can still so clearly be seen in that small community.
I wonder, though, about another kind of imprint—the imprint of Christ on our lives. Do we allow His presence to be clearly seen by others? Is it possible for people who interact with us to know that Jesus occupies our lives?
Jesus calls us to make known His presence in our lives to the glory of God the Father. He says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matt. 5:16).Through the light of our testimony and the impact of our deeds of service, people should be able to see evidence of the presence of God in our lives. Is it true? Can they see His imprint?
P.S. I want to give a shout out to my friend Cleo Bullen who is getting married tomorrow...soon to be Cleo Hess :) I hope you have a wonderful wedding.
