The rest of the day was spent relaxing, catching up with some friends, and doing a little bit of cooking/baking.
A few recipes that I tried today for the first time was a sweet potato quinoa recipe that I made fro supper and then I made a dessert for tomorrow night's get together which is called salted caramel pretzel brownies.
God bless,

Reading for today:
January 30th
Genesis 22/Luke22
Genesis 22 – Abraham’s faith is tested in this chapter. God asks Abraham to take his son Isaac up to Mt. Moriah. Abraham is willing to sacrifice his one and only son, but the Lord intervenes and spares his life. What an amazing example of faith. I got to thinking to myself, would I walk up to that mountain and be willing to sacrifice my child or someone who I loved dearly? What about something that we have in our possession like a car, house, jewelry, etc…are we willing to lay down all that we have at the feet of Jesus? Jesus calls us to leave all that we have to follow him. May we hold what we have with open hands and loose fingers realizing that if God were to call us away from all that we own we would still be “rich” because we have the Lord and that is priceless!!!
Luke 22 – What a full chapter. Two things that stuck out to me was Peter denying Jesus after he said that he wouldn’t and then Judas betraying Jesus. Following the Lord is not something that will always be convenient and at times may even require us to be willing to sacrifice what is "convenient". Here Peter conveniently denies the Lord after saying he wouldn’t. What a great reminder to persevere and endure even if we lose friends, but better to be with the Lord than with anyone else. Judas is outright in his denial of Christ to the point of betraying him at the end of the chapter. I can’t imagine seeing Jesus in human form and doing what Judas did. May we, in how we live our lives, not live in such a way that we are “betraying” Jesus by our actions.
