I came back home from the game and got home around 4:30 p.m. I talked to my sisters for a little bit which was nice! I soon had to leave around 5:15 p.m. to meet up with some friend over in Bahceli. Bahceli is a pretty popular spot in Ankara! They have a lot of American restaurants, which is nice. I met up with a friend from church, and then we both have a mutual friend Ipek. Ipek brought her brother and his fiancée. We had a great time of hanging out and fellowship. We ate at a nice, quaint restaurant that had live music. It was nice, because the music was in English J. The meal itself was interesting! I normally order chicken (tavuk), but this time I thought I would order a steak wrap. I had eaten a chicken wrap before that I loved, so I figured I would try the steak wrap. Looking at the food on the plate it looked amazing! I was hungry too, because I had only eaten a granola bar and some dried fruit. I go to bite into the wrap and start chewing…and chewing…and chewing! Whatever it was I was chewing was not getting any smaller J So, I figured I had hit a piece of fat…no big deal right? Well, I decided I was going to cut the wrap and look inside…what did I find? I found more fatty meat inside L. I don’t like to eat fat, so I always make sure the meat I am eating has the visible fat cut off of it. This meat had fat that you could see, but then it was also not a good cut of meat whatsoever because it was extremely chewy. I managed to eat the vegetables and wrap part of half of the wrap, but I could not eat anymore after that. Suffice it to say, I decided that I would stay away from the beef unless I am able to see it firsthand before I eat it.
When I got back to my house in the evening I did some reading and talking to my family. I stayed up until about 1:30 a.m. and then went to bed.
Today I woke up at 8:30 a.m. for church. I am going to see if I am able to go to sleep better tonight since I did not sleep in! I really only need about 7 or 8 hours of sleep, but when I am able to get more I will. It is hard to believe that I have been over her for 1 week. I am one week down, and have 14 more to go J .
Church this morning was great! The topics of the message were submission and humility. Below I typed out some notes that I took during the message:
a. “Submission requires faith in God”
b. “Refusal to submit usually indicates a lack of faith in God”
c. “Submission is living out humility”
d. “Humility is recognizing my talents are gifts from God”
****Humility and Submission applied:
1. Using gifts together and each one accepting their part in the community to God’s glory.
2. Leaders sharing responsibility and serving.
3. In conflict, seeking the other’s good!
4. Striving to learn the truth and learn from others.
5. Listening to understand.
6. Voicing concerns and requests while trusting God to care for the community and bring good.
BELOW IS A VERSE THAT I LOVE:
Philippians 2:1-9:
“ 1 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.5 In your relationships with one another, have the same attitude of mind Christ Jesus had. 6 Who, being in very natureGod, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a human being, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name.”
“Your life is a book read by all, so get reviews.” What reviews would and do you get from those you come in contact with?
This afternoon I read a little bit, and then we had practice at 3:00 p.m. Today we just did lifting and shooting, so it was not long at all! Please be in prayer for our team. There may be some transitions made after we finish up this first half of the season!
Well, I am going to do some reading, and talking with my family, and then I will be trying to get to bed at a decent time tonight! Enjoy your Sunday afternoon J
