Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
Well, bed for me...my body needs rest!!!
Writing a quick blog to let you know we lost our game. I didn't play too much, because I am still pretty worn out from the flu/cold that I got a few days ago. Coach didn't even play me in the second half actually.
Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." *An encouraging verse a friend sent today! Thank you Lord :) Well, bed for me...my body needs rest!!!

Just a quick note to let you know I am still alive ;). Did not do too much today besides listen to a few sermons and relax. We had a team meeting tonight and then were supposed to practice, but we didn't end up practicing because the gym was being used later than what was originally planned. So, we had an OFF day before the game! I don't think that has ever happened before. It was nice though, because it allowed me to get more rest. Tomorrow we play Galatasaray at 6:00 p.m. Because we did not practice tonight, we will have a practice tomorrow morning. I should hit the sack, because it will be an early morning :) Hope everyone had a great Sunday! As far as the Super Bowl goes, I am unbiased because I am not a football fan ha. MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN! Megan ***************************************************************************************************************** Verse of the Day:
Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the LORD God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is.— Amos 5:14 (NIV) Thoughts on Today's Verse...Isn't it amazing how many people claim God is on their side. God has been "claimed" by those seeking to enforce slavery, practice prejudice, lie, bribe officials, practice hypocrisy, force injustice on the powerless, and practice "ethnic cleansing." But God makes the test pretty simple: do what is good, seek after the good, or you're not related to him! In the words of the prophet Amos, that meant equity for all peoples in court, in the marketplace, and in the place of worship. If we're claiming God is on our side, then we'd better draw close to the side of God, the side of goodness, justice, and mercy as God defines them! My Utmost For His Highest: After you have gone through the fire, there will be nothing that will be able to trouble or depress you. When another crisis arises, you will realize that things cannot touch you as they used to do. What fire lies ahead in your life? Tell God you are ready to be poured out as an offering, and God will prove Himself to be all you ever dreamed He would be. Our Daily Bread: In the body of Christ, no race, nationality, or class is better than another. Through the cross, Christ has made us one, and we are to treat each other with honesty, dignity, and love. It matters not what race or gender, Rich or poor, or great or small, The God who made us is not partial-- He sent Christ to die for all. —D. De Haan Prejudice distorts what it sees, deceives when it talks, and destroys when it acts. Hey All, I am happy to report that I am feeling better. I was able to get some good rest today which has been great!! I haven't done a whole lot today besides relax :). Not a whole lot to report here. Tomorrow I will start practice again. We don't practice until 7:00 p.m., so it will be nice to almost have another day to rest! I will update tomorrow! Enjoy the rest of your Saturday. Oh and my dad made me aware of this article on Eurobasket, so I thought I would share it: http://www.eurobasket.com/Turkey/basketball.asp?NewsID=216629&Women=1 Megan ___________________________________________________________________________ Verse of the Day:
Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, are sin!— Proverbs 21:4 (NIV) Thoughts on Today's Verse..."We're number one!" is the cry today. However, the scripture above tells us that the wicked light their own way with their haughty eyes and proud heart. In contrast, God lights the way for his people with his word (Scripture) and with his Word (Jesus); the wicked light their own way with haughty eyes and proud hearts. But arrogance, pride, "uppity-ness" -- or whatever name you want to call it -- is called sin by God. God is number one and all the other numbers are important only because of him. It's just that simple. My Utmost For His Highest: Are you ready to be less than a mere drop in the bucket—to be so totally insignificant that no one remembers you even if they think of those you served? Are you willing to give and be poured out until you are used up and exhausted—not seeking to be ministered to, but to minister? Our Daily Bread: The shifting morals of our present world can be confusing. We may be tempted to let culture or the opinions of society be the foundation for the decisions we make. But obeying the unwavering truth of God’s Word brings stability unavailable anywhere else. “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock” (v.24). Well, today has been a resting day for me. I woke up not feeling well at all. I could tell a cold was coming on, but then last night I had a fever for most of the night and was pretty hot. Thankfully, the fever broke today, and so I think I am slowly on the upswing. One of my sisters was sick with the exact same symptoms I had last week...I think she gave me what she had through skype ;)....no I am kidding! It is never fun to be sick, but especially when you are away from family and friends. I felt bad not practicing today (first time I have missed a practice overseas), but I know my body needs rest so that is what I opted to do. Not sure what I will do tomorrow, depends on how I feel. We do not play until Monday, so as long as I get a practice in on Sunday I will be okay! This afternoon I went and got an IV of fluids and saw the doctor. One thing I have found out is that they are really big about IV's overseas. I guess they put vitamins and immune boosters in the "serum"...who knows! I am hoping it helps me to feel better whatever it is :). I hope you all have a great weekend! Only one more week left for me of classes :) Yaya!! Well, I am off to listen to a few messages online before hitting the sack :) Megan ___________________________________________________________________________ Verse of the Day:
Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.— Ephesians 6:24 (NIV) Thoughts on Today's Verse...What do you have that lasts forever? Not much unless it is connected to the Lord Jesus Christ. So many things we love and pursue are hollow, fleeting, shallow, and vain. But grace comes, grace stays, and grace lives with those whose love is the Lord Jesus Christ. Neither time nor the grave can strip away our grace in him when he is our Lord and he is our love. My Utmost For His Highest: Paul said that he was overpowered, subdued, and held as in a vise by “the love of Christ.” Very few of us really know what it means to be held in the grip of the love of God. We tend so often to be controlled simply by our own experience. The one thing that gripped and held Paul, to the exclusion of everything else, was the love of God. “The love of Christ compels us . . . .” When you hear that coming from the life of a man or woman it is unmistakable. You will know that the Spirit of God is completely unhindered in that person’s life. Our Daily Bread: Has anything changed since King Jesus came into your heart? Does your world notice or do they think He was just passing through? By this shall every person know That we serve God above: His Spirit dwells within our hearts And fills us with His love. —D. De Haan If Jesus has taken up residence in us, the world should notice a lasting change. Just want to let everyone know I am doing okay. I am going to hit the sack. Early lift tomorrow for me. Prayers would be much appreciated as I am feeling under the weather with a cold. Hope everyone is doing well!!
Verse of the Day: God looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.— Psalm 53:2 (NIV) Thoughts on Today's Verse...Are you a "God-seeker"? Through much of history, especially when things are going well or in times of great wickedness, God has not found many who seek after him. But he's looking! He's searching! It matters to him! Just as God walked with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day before sin destroyed their relationship, God longs to walk with us. But he's looking for those whose hearts are yearning for his presence in their lives. So let's yearn! Megan Three weeks until my sisters come! At this time in 3 weeks, they will be sitting in my apartment with me :) WOW!! Today was a great day. I got to sleep in a little bit, and then we had lifting and practice. This was only our second lift since returning, and I was so glad that we lifted!! I miss lifting twice a week like we did in the first half of the season, but this second half of the season has just been crazy busy! So, I had a whole blog typed and then guess what happened...yes, it was erased. I have been spending the evening working on some homework. One of my classes ends this week, and then the other one ends next week. We have no game this weekend, because it is going to be played on Monday. So, we have a few more days left of practice. Happy "hump day" to everyone! Tomorrow we only have one practice in the afternoon, so I plan on working on more school work in the morning and sleeping in a little bit. I hope you all have a great rest of the week!! Megan ___________________________________________________________________________________________ Verse of the Day:
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. — James 1:17 (NIV) Thoughts on Today's Verse...He doesn't waver! He doesn't change! Isn't that comforting? God is consistent and in his consistency, he gives good gifts. He created the world in all its majesty and gave it to us to use. After sin strangled life, God gave us his great promise of redemption and executed it through Abraham and the Israelites. Because death claimed us, he gave us Jesus, crucified and resurrected, to give us the assurance of our victory over sin and death. There is no shadow in that brilliant light and we are assured that light will keep on shining! My Utmost For His Highest: God makes us as broken bread and poured-out wine to please Himself. To be “separated to the gospel” means being able to hear the call of God (Romans 1:1). Once someone begins to hear that call, a suffering worthy of the name of Christ is produced. Our Daily Bread: Prayer can help to defragment our lives. When we cast our cares on the Lord, He will show us what we need to do and what only He can do. O Lord, we bring our restless hearts To You in fervent prayer; Now help us wait expectantly While resting in Your care. —Sper We need prayer the most when we have the least time to pray. WOW!! So my time in Cappadocia was incredible :) Today was a great way to cap the trip off. My teammates and I were given a great tour by the owner of the hotel we stayed at. He told us about a lot of the history of Cappadocia, as well as took us to some great places to take pictures and walk around. All I can say is, if you ever make it to Turkey, Cappadocia is a must see place :)
I am going to make this blog brief tonight, because I need to hit the sack soon, but I will write more tomorrow. We have lifting and practice tomorrow. Here is a link to some pictures I took today: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2377431&id=55710205&l=464d7c8e62 Megan |
