Today has been a good day. I was able to sleep in which was really nice. This afternoon we had practice. We lifted and then we did some shooting and worked on offenses some. This evening I went to the mall and got ingredients to make some chicken enchiladas (Turkish style). They don't have salsa verde here or things like that, but I was able to make a version of enchiladas that was really good!!
I also have cookie dough chilling in the fridge right now that I made this evening. I am going to bake some cookies for my teammates here in a little bit and take them to practice tomorrow.
Good luck to all the teams playing today. I know John Battle starts their season and their first game. One of my friends at Providence has a game today as well. I hope you all do well :)
I wanted to share with you some notes that I took from a message that I listened to online:
Graduating in Gratitude
11/28/15
Deuteronomy 8
Your next level is ONE praise away.
Failure can free you from your fear to succeed.
God’s gifts alone are not able to give you joy. God’s gifts are only able to give you JOY when they are joined with God’s gratitude.
Appreciate what you have so it will set the stage to make the most of what you have or will gain in the future.
Happy people are not the ones who have the most of everything but they make the best and the most of what they do have.
"The Gifts of Imperfection" – book by Renee Brown
- Gratitude – practice it
- Gratitude is not natural
- Having an attitude doesn’t always translate to a behavior. (Ex: attitude of gratitude)
- Are you putting the attitude into action?
- Attitude without practice is a little bit like faith without works – it isn’t alive.
- Do you have grateful habits not just a grateful heart?
- Say the blessing.
- Deuteronomy 8:10
- “For the…” - you thank the Lord for His provision.
- Moses
- “Even though…” - thank God even though PRESENCE
- David – Psalm 23:4
- Learn to trust God with what you cannot.
- “Even though” recognizes His presence in the presence of enemies.
- When you praise Him in pain it is preparation for provision.
- “Because of…” PURPOSE
- Paul – Philippians 1:17-18
- You don’t have to feel grateful to be grateful.
God bless,
Megan
