It has definitely been nice to be able to escape from the "basketball world" for a few days for sure. I think it will do our team wonders as we regroup and make a final push to finish out the last 2 games in Top 6 and then as we move into the playoffs at the end of March.
This evening I went to dinner with one of my teammate's and her family in Tel Aviv near Jaffa Port. Jacqui's family is in Israel on a tour, so she invited me to grab dinner with them. We went to this restaurant called "Blackout". What an incredible experience! It was literally pitch black in the restaurant and you could not see anything. There were no lights, all cell phones were taken, and all watches removed that lit up. We ordered a meal and we were served by blind waiters and waitresses. We even got led in by our waitress and followed in a train format with hands on the person's shoulders in front of us. We were given instructions as to when it was our turn to sit down and then we also even poured our own glass of water in the dark and then proceeded to eat our meals. They told us before going into the dark restaurant that we were allowed to use our fingers. I can definitely tell you I used mine lol :). Hey I didn't have to worry about it because no one was watching and even if they were they couldn't see me haha! What a phenomenal experience. What talent it takes to be able to serve people food in a restaurant style format with multiple tables and to be able to do so without dropping plates or glasses...incredible! It gave me an even better understanding of what a blind person has to go through just to even eat their food. You don't realize how much you rely on your sight when eating until it is taken away. What an unforgettable experience. Below is a picture that was taken outside of the restaurant with my teammate Jacqui.
March 5th
Genesis 46/Acts 22
Genesis 46 – Jacob brings his family to live in Goshen where Joseph has told him to come. Once Jacob sees Joseph is alive and doing well he is overjoyed. How amazing of a reunion between a father and son would that be? Phenomenal I am sure.
Acts 22 – What an incredible way the Lord chooses to reveal himself to Saul whose name then changes to Paul. I can’t imagine being physically blinded by a bright light. This is just a great reminder that God can show His power through many different ways.
Back to the practice floor tomorrow! As today starts Lent, may we all be ever mindful and thankful for our Lord and Savior. I have decided to give up sweets this month...what is something you can choose to give up or even add during this time? Maybe it could be reading the Bible more or praying more, eating healthier, or exercising...you can fill in the blank and make it applicable to you personally.
God bless,
Megan
