Just wanted to let you know we made it safe and sound to Italy. I will write more tomorrow. I think the game will be on TVP Spor, so I will update my blog tomorrow about information.

Today has been a great day. This morning I got to go with a couple of my teammates and talk to some kids at 2 different schools about basketball. We also played with them some and taught them a few things about the game. The kids were probably between the ages of 4 to 7. They were absolutely adorable.
Short and sweet blog today :). Our next game is Thursday against Familia Schio in Italy at 8:30 p.m. which is 2:30 p.m. EST. I will keep you posted on how it goes. We practice in the morning and then leave for Italy in the afternoon! I will be sure to take some pictures :) and also let you know how the game goes on Thursday. Verse of the Day: “My son, if sinners entice you, do not give in to them.” --Proverbs 1:10 As believers, we need to be wearing the armor of God at all times. People are going to try to deceive us and bring us down, but with God’s help we can refute them. My Utmost For His Highest: “Salvation means that we are brought to the place where we are able to receive something from God on the authority of Jesus Christ, namely, forgiveness of sins.” Have you received this salvation? If so, be thankful and choose to live your life with a sole purpose of bringing honor and glory to the Lord. If you don’t have this free gift of salvation, what are you waiting for? Hey Hey,
Not much new to report here today. We had two practices today. It was raining most of the day, so I went to practice, took a nap, and then went to practice this evening. It was nice to have a lounging around type of afternoon. For lunch I made a chef salad, and then for supper I made a chicken quesadilla. Verse of the Day: "Since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding." --Colossians 1:9 Wow!! This is so awesome :). My Utmost For His Highest: “Your whole spirit . . . .” The great, mysterious work of the Holy Spirit is in the deep recesses of our being which we cannot reach. Read Psalm 139 . The psalmist implies— “O Lord, You are the God of the early mornings, the God of the late nights, the God of the mountain peaks, and the God of the sea.” Thank you Lord for being my everything :). He is with us in the good times and the bad times. *Continue to pray for my Grandpa. He is still in the hospital, but seems to be doing better. They are continuing to run some tests to see what exactly is going on. Megan Hey All, I hope everyone has had a blessed Sunday. I know I sure have :). I stayed up late last night watching the Liberty Lady Flames play High Point. Unfortunately Liberty lost a close one in overtime to High Point. This morning, it was a little tough to get up, but I was looking forward to getting to church in Lubin. I am not fluent in Polish, but praise the Lord someone graciously translated the message for me for which I am grateful! It is always nice to fellowship and be surrounded by fellow believers. A resounding thought that the Lord has placed on my heart lately is the absolute truth that "He is faithful". I have had some pretty cool things happen in my life lately. It has been so awesome to sit back and see the Lord at work. I can't take credit for a single thing, but rather want to give praise to my Lord and Savior for his goodness and mercy to me. Sometimes we get caught up in the every day hustle and bustle and start to lose sight of the many things that God does for us on a daily basis. I encourage you to stop, take a deep breathe, and reflect on what the Lord has done in your life, and what He is currently doing. The great thing about the Lord, is He is always at work. Are you letting Him lead you and work in your life? Maybe it is time to adjust your priorities. Is God your #1 A few notes I took from the message today: Intimacy with God Example: Enoch - Genesis 5:21-25 1. Enoch walked with God a. We must deny ourself and take up our cross. b. We can gain the fruits of the Spirit when we follow and seek after the Lord. 2. Enoch saw God Isaiah 6:1-6 Example - Job - when Job came to the end of his rope so to speak He realized that God was all he needed! 3. Enoch talked with God *Talking to God is not just a one way deal. We must also take time to listen to Him 4. Enoch listened to God Romans 10:17 5. Enoch acknowledged God 2 Timothy 3:16 6. Enoch experienced God Philippians 4:4 Tomorrow we are back to 2 practices again. I have enjoyed today just being able to relax. After church I went to the store and stocked up on some food for the week. I ventured out and decided to get some fresh salmon, which meant I had to try to communicate with someone to get it. It worked out great, and I have to say the salmon was delicious!! It will last me a couple of meals which is nice :). Touch Point: Intimacy is a drawing closer to God as a result of knowing Him better and spending time with Him. Verse of the Day: Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. --Joshua 1:8 Love this! What we meditate on our feed our mind will come back out in our thoughts, words, and actions. What am I feeding my mind? What are you feeding your mind? My Utmost For His Highest: God never tells us to give up things just for the sake of giving them up, but He tells us to give them up for the sake of the only thing worth having, namely, life with Himself.” It is about denying ourselves and taking up our cross to follow the one who died for our sins. When we sacrifice our time for others, that usually means we care for that person enough to help them out, run an errand, help out with a project, etc. When we ask the Lord to reign in us, it will require some purging of worldly or sinful things in order to be able to follow the Lord fully. ____________________________________________________________________________ I know that there is power in prayer, and I ask that you would pray for my Grandpa Frazee. He is currently in the hospital experiencing some heart and breathing problems. I recieved a call from my dad earlier today. The doctors are trying to figure out right now what is going on. I can rest in the fact that God is in control, and my Grandpa knows the Lord. I respect him and love him so much as I do all of my wonderful Grandparents! I also wanted to share another prayer request. Please be in prayer for Lauren Scruggs. Her parents are keeping a caringbridge website to update people on her progress. I encourage you to take the time to read the updates. She was involved in a helicopter accident. You can find out about her story on the website below. What an amazing outlook the family has on the situation, and no doubt it is because of the Lord!! Here is the link: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/laurenscruggs Also, I wanted to copy the journal entry by Lauren's mom last night below: written by CHERYL SCRUGGS I sit here tonight, emotional.....wanting to go to sleep, but knowing God wants me to pour into your heart. About this time, (10pm), 5 weeks ago, we were sitting in a conference room at a hospital, wondering what the fate of our daughter was going to be. When they finally walked in the room, they informed us she was stable enough for surgery that lasted well into the wee hours of the morning. At that particular moment Peace came over me. I knew God was holding her, and all of us. We felt helpless.......but trusted that Jesus had her in His Hands. He had her wrapped in His Arms........ We know many of you have struggles of many kinds. Know that we are praying for whatever you are going through. Please know God is holding you. Please trust that He has you in His Arms. Please call out to Him.......... DON'T FORGET THAT HE IS THERE.....with YOU...and BESIDE YOU. How much more comfort do we need than to know Jesus is there, no matter what happens? I read Lo her devotional tonight that reminded us to be "thankful in all circumstances". And we are....... I think back over this tough last week. But we did have some bright spots.... a smile; laughter; a few tears, lots of hugs. What we finally realized is that we need to take every day, minute by minute, not sure how the next hour will be. The best we hope for every day, is for an adequate amount of rest and peace for her, and for us. This is serious business, and much harder than we could have ever dreamed: she's had a brain injury which requires a great amount of sleep and rest. Talking is a major effort, and wears her out. Her severe shoulder injury slows her down in the simple things, like trying to dress herself, taking a shower, or putting lotion on after a shower. It's hard to raise her left shoulder just to put her arm in the shirt sleeve. Losing her left hand and her left eye makes life a different ball game altogether. Depth perception doesn't exist anymore. Not easy to overcome for walking or driving, ......but doable. She has a positive attitude, but this is tough. We praise God if she has a comfortable night's sleep, has a little bit of an appetite, and gets enough rest both physically and emotionally. The days are quite tedious with therapy... hopefully she can take a nap..... Before we know it, dinner time arrives, she eats, and is ready to fall alseep by 8pm. That's all she has time for. That's all she can handle. It's all we can handle. We all go to sleep at night, thanking God we made it through yet another day. Lo struggled with much pain this week. She couldn't even participate in therapy on Thurs because of it. But, she's a fighter and not one to ever give up trying. Please continue to pray for her pain to subside..............."Please Jesus". As we have started this new year, our perspective has changed on many levels. The busyness we focused on before has dissipated.....Family and relationships are top priority in life...... Please be thankful for your spouse, your children, your parents, your friends....Allow God to use you to be there for others......don't waste your life (great book by John Piper) on menial things. Love well......show you care.....don't sweat the small stuff. As I close my computer down, God whispered these questions in my ear: What are you after in life? What is your purpose? I challenge you to ask God for yourself........ Trust me, He will show you. What an awesome perspective and testimony this family is having!!I encourage you all to ask yourself: 1. WHAT ARE YOU AFTER IN LIFE? 2. WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE? A song I want to leave for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwkZ1kdaE9s God bless, Megan Hey All, I wanted to let you know that we won our game today. It wasn't the prettiest win ever, but we did win. The final score was 76-54, but when we played this team in the first half of the season we beat them by a lot more. I am not complaining though, a "W" is a "W" :). Esther, my friend that is in medical school in Poznan (where we played), brought some of her friends to the game and they made the sing above. Awesome having people cheering for you all the way in Poland. Esther went to the It was our first game since coming back from break. A lot of us are still trying to get acclimated with the time difference and of course playing together again. Tomorrow, I will be headed to Lubin. We have off, so I am going to do some grocery shopping and get a few other things done. Good luck to the Liberty Lady Flames as they take on High Point tonight in the Vines Center at 7:00 p.m.!! Verse of the Day: If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. --1 John 1:7 Love this! Are we choosing to walk in the light? What a freeing experience it is when we do :). My Utmost For His Highest: "Once we get intimate with Jesus we are never lonely and we never lack for understanding or compassion. We can continually pour out our hearts to Him without being perceived as overly emotional or pitiful. The Christian who is truly intimate with Jesus will never draw attention to himself but will only show the evidence of a life where Jesus is completely in control. This is the outcome of allowing Jesus to satisfy every area of life to its depth." What a great paragraph from Chambers. Do you want to live in complete freedom? Then surrender your life completely over to the Lord and let Him lead, guide, and direct you. When we are living for the Lord, the attention is taken off of ourselves because we are not living to please ourselves, but rather the Lord. Hey All,
Just a quick blog to update you on my day. I am still getting used to the time change over here. I slept in and then we only had one practice in the evening which was nice. Tomorrow we have our first game of 2012. We play at 4:00 p.m. which is 10:00 a.m. EST. To my knowledge, you cannot watch this game through the computer but you should be able to follow live stats. Verse of the Day: “You became imitators of us and of the Lord; in spite of severe suffering, you welcomed the message with the joy given by the Holy Spirit.” --1 Thessalonians 1:6 When we suffer, do we still strive to imitate Christ? It is easy when things are going well not to, but what do our lives look like when the valleys and trials come? My Utmost For His Highest: ‘Worship is giving God the best that He has given you. Be careful what you do with the best you have. Whenever you get a blessing from God, give it back to Him as a love-gift.” WOW!! I love this :). Today was another great day in Poland. The weather has been quite rainy, but that's okay. We had two practices today and both went pretty well. We were all feeling it in the second practice, but that is to be expected with getting over jet lag and coming back from a week and a half break. God is good to sustain us all :).
You know when you think about it, every day that we have is another day to bring honor and glory to the Lord. As a Christian, what will be even better is when we leave our physical bodies down on this earth, we will obtain our heavenly bodies up in heaven where we will have the blessed opportunity to praise and worship our Lord and Savior forever. We never know when we may breathe out last breath. Do you know where you are going when you leave this earth? Tomorrow we have the morning off and will get back to work in the evening. Our first game back since break will be on Saturday! Three weeks from today my sisters will be landing in Poland :). I am excited to see them and spend time with me. They are looking forward to coming over as well!! Verse of the Day: Make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. --2 Peter 1:5-7 Are we making an effort at the start of this new year to add to our character? It is one thing to start out strong, but let’s make a commitment to be living and working for the Lord 24 hours a day and 365 days a year!! My Utmost For His Highest: “All our promises and resolutions end in denial because we have no power to accomplish them. When we come to the end of ourselves, not just mentally but completely, we are able to “receive the Holy Spirit.” “Receive the Holy Spirit “— the idea is that of invasion. There is now only One who directs the course of your life, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Have you come to the end of yourself? We must turn our sole focus and attention on the Lord. The Lord supplies all that we need :). How is everyone doing? Happy Hump Day to you all :)
I hope you all are having a great start to a new year :) We only had one practice today which was nice. I wasn't able to fall asleep until pretty late last night, so it was great being able to sleep in. You gotta love jet lag right? Tomorrow we are back to 2 practices again! Not a whole lot of new things to report here. Our next game is Saturday in Poznan at 4:00 p.m. (10:00 a.m. EST). Verse of the Day: "In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now..." Philippians 1:4-5 My Utmost For His Highest: "Natural devotion may be enough to attract us to Jesus, to make us feel His irresistible charm, but it will never make us disciples. Natural devotion will deny Jesus, always falling short of what it means to truly follow Him." We must choose to bring honor and glory to the Lord. We can’t do it on our own, but must rely on the Lord for help :). We all have a choice to make. We can choose to live for ourselves, or we can choose to live for the Lord! Today has been a great day! We were back at it practicing today. We had a morning practice and then we had a night practice...both practices went great. We found out today that we have a new assistant coach. He actually coached against us earlier in the season as a head coach of a different team. It will be nice that our head coach now has someone who can help him out.
I hope everyone has had a great couple of days in the New Year! Verse of the Day: The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.--Hebrews 1:3 WOW! I love this :) Are we radiating the love of the Lord in how we live? My Utmost For His Highest: "The only possible way to have full understanding of the teachings of Jesus is through the light of the Spirit of God shining inside us." Are we letting the Lord shine through us and have His way in us? Great reflection questions to think about for the new year!!I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday tomorrow. Megan Hey All,
Just wanted to let you know I made it back to Poland safe and sound :). The flights were all great. WELCOME 2012!!! I was able to go to church yesterday morning before I headed back over here to Poland. I took some notes that I wanted to share with you all: Jonathan Falwell Thomas Road Baptist Church January 1st, 2012 "Manage every action as if a camera were on you." 2 Corinthians 8:10-14 - Finish what you started a year ago. FOLLOW THROUGH! 1. Finish what you start.
Accomplish what the Lord has layed on your heart for this year. "I have decided to follow Jesus...no turning back!" As I reflect on the year of 2011, there are numerous memories that I have. I am so thankful for the many blessings that the Lord has given me and allowed me to take part in. I want to give Him all of the honor and glory, because He is more than worthy of ALL of our praise and adoration. As I look forward to a NEW YEAR, my desire is to be a reflection of the Lord. Ringing in the New Year seems to bring about the spirit of change in a lot of people. Is there something in your life that the Lord has been pressing on you to change? Maybe it is stepping out on faith and beginning a new career, maybe it is helping someone in need, maybe it is giving of yourself to serve others. The Lord calls each and every one of us to bring honor and glory to Him. My desire for the year of 2012 is "to be all that I can be", not for myself but rather the Lord!! Verse of the Day: He [the Word, Jesus] was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.--John 1:2-3 We serve a God who has been and will always be! That is pretty awesome if you ask me. I am so thankful for an opportunity to have a personal relationship with the Lord :). He is SO SO good!! My Utmost For His Highest: "Believe God is always the God you know Him to be when you are nearest to Him. Then think how unnecessary and disrespectful worry is! Let the attitude of your life be a continual willingness to “go out” in dependence upon God, and your life will have a sacred and inexpressible charm about it that is very satisfying to Jesus. You must learn to “go out” through your convictions, creeds, or experiences until you come to the point in your faith where there is nothing between yourself and God." Worry - We all are probably guilty of that from time to time and some more so than others. I love what Chambers says here. When we are near to God, there is no room for worry. It is like going out in an ocean. When we are near the shore, we are less likely to have something happen to us. But when we start to drift out into the deep water then there is more of an opportunity for something to happen. Worry, stress, and anxiety can easily start to set in, especially if you find yourself caught up in a current or an undertow. Just as risk increases as we move farther from shore, we find ourselves more easily influenced by the pressures of this world when we allow ourselves to be drawn away from the Lord. Just like the shore will always remain as safety from the ocean, the Lord is always waiting for us to surrender our all to Him. What are we waiting for? As we start a new year, may we be ever mindful of the Lord! Tomorrow it is back to work. We have practice in the morning as well as the afternoon. I will write more tomorrow. God bless, Megan |
