Today was a good day, but a little long. We left at 10:30 a.m. from the apartment and we drove over an hour to the airport then we were supposed to fly out at 1:00 p.m. but waited on the runway for an hour. We got to Hatay in an hour and a half and then we had about a 45 minute drive to our hotel. We ate a late lunch (4:30 p.m.) then we left at 5:20 p.m. for practice and practiced from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. then came back and had dinner.
No scout tonight which is nice. Tomorrow we have breakfast at 10:00 a.m. and then a meeting at noon then lunch after that, and then probably leave for the game around 3:00 p.m. or so!! Woo hoo!! We will play at 9:30 a.m. EST tomorrow in the USA and then we fly out tomorrow night after the game. It is hard to believe only one more day of November tomorrow and then the month finally arrives that I get to come home for a little bit!! The link to watch the game tomorrow is this: http://www.tbftv.org/ *We play at 9:30 a.m. your time tomorrow morning against Hatay! God bless, Megan Reading for the day: Psalm 48 Psalm 48 – Thankful to the Lord for His continual guidance on a daily basis…what a blessing! Today was a GREAT day!! We started off the morning by getting practice canceled after one of my teammates nailed a shot from half court. Long story short, I think it was a blessing in disguise because we are all pretty tired to be honest. There is also some sickness going around on the team so there are a couple girls that have colds and are feeling under the weather.
I was blessed to be able to go to an American families house for Thanksgiving which was awesome!! The picture above I took of what my plate looked like. I was able to eat some awesome Turkey, stuffing, cornbread casserole, sweet potato casserole, and a carrot casserole as well that was amazing!! So thankful to be able to get together with fellow Believer's and spend time thanking the Lord for His many blessings. We even sang some worship songs which was so great for me to sing and fellowship with a body of Believer's. We leave tomorrow for Hatay and will come back on Sunday. We play Sunday afternoon and then will fly back Sunday night. Continued prayers for strength and endurance is much appreciated!! God bless, Megan November 28th 1 Samuel 3/Revelation 2 1 Samuel 3 – The Lord warns Samuel that he is going to carry out his threats on Eli and his family. Revelation 2 – The Lord gives different messages to each church challenging them! May we be ever fervent to listen and heed the Lord’s challenges to us as well. Happy Thanksgiving!! In the spirit of Thanksgiving I will go with orange lettering :)
I hope everyone has a wonderful day today! Make sure to take time first and foremost to thank the Lord for ALL that He has blessed you with. Then be sure to thank those near and dear to your heart whether it is family, a spouse, a child, etc. The fact of the matter is, we have all been given more than we need!! Today I had lifting and practice in the morning; both sessions went well. This afternoon I took a nap and then did some cookie baking with my roomie. I made quesadillas for dinner and then I ended the night making some chocolate chip banana bread that I will be taking to some people's house for dinner tomorrow night (a late Thanksgiving). We have practice tomorrow morning and then I will be venturing over to the Asian side of Istanbul to celebrate Thanksgiving with some American families over here. God bless, Megan Reading for the day: November 27th 1 Samuel 2/Revelation 1 1 Samuel 2 – Hannah prays to the Lord and praises Him for all He has done for her and for those around her. She encourages people to stop acting so proud. The Lord brings justice to all. Revelations 1 – John gets a vision of the Son of Man and writes down all that he is sees. How amazing to be in John’s position. Hey All,
Today was another good day here in Istanbul. It continues to rain, but hopefully the sun will make its way back out soon. We had practice this morning and then this afternoon I went with my roommate to the movies. We watched the new Hunger Games movie and then we went out to eat at an Italian place which was really good. Tomorrow it is back to the practice floor and we will also be lifting weights. I was blessed to be able to talk to my Dad today and one of my Grandma's!! I love you all and I look forward to seeing you next month!!! It is crazy to think that tomorrow is Thanksgiving already!! Reading for the day: November 26th 1 Samuel 1/Jude 1 Samuel 1 – So neat to see Hannah’s faith in action! How amazing that she is willing to dedicate her child to the Lord. We in turn must dedicate all we have to the Lord, because after all we are simply stewards of what He has blessed us with. Jude – We are warned of false prophets and we are called to remain faithful despite the “highs” and “lows” of life. Hey All,
Today was a good day. I have to say that despite the off day I was feeling it, but thankfully the Lord gave me the strength to get through lifting and practice. I ate leftovers for lunch and then took a nap. After nap I made the creamy curry chicken for my roommate and me which was really good. This evening I have been able to relax which has been really nice. Tomorrow it is back to the practice floor here. It still continues to rain and be cold here. God bless, Megan November 25th Ruth 4/James 5 Ruth 4 – Amazing to see God’s grace and provision in providing Ruth a Kinsman Redeemer in Boaz. What a blessing Boaz was to Ruth and Naomi. James 5 – The Lord talks about persevering and being patient. Patience and perseverance go hand in hand. In order to be patient, perseverance is needed. The chapter finishes with talking about the power of prayer. How neat to see that prayer, patience, and perseverance it threaded together! Hey All, I hope everyone has an amazing week ahead! Like I said yesterday I got back pretty late from our road trip, so I slept in a little bit today. I plan on relaxing all day honestly and just chilling. This week we will be able to be in Istanbul all week because we have a bye week in the Euro Cup so we don't play again until Sunday in the Turkish League. This will be the last time we are in Istanbul for an extended amount of time before going home. Starting next Monday we will head to Ordu and be there for about a week and then the following two weeks we travel to Lithuania and Russia during the week. Combining that travel with the Turkish League games we will only be in Ordu for about 5 days in December before flying home for Christmas Break December 23rd. The game was a great win yesterday for us because it pushed us up to 8th place when we were in 11th place before. We are hoping to keep gaining momentum and get another win this weekend!! Reading Schedule for the week: The Box Score from the game yesterday is above!
I hope everyone has a great week ahead! It is crazy we are entering our last full week of November. I pray that we all take time to stop and enjoy the small moments in life. Enjoy time with your families this week as you celebrate Thanksgiving. We truly have SO much to be thankful for. God bless, Megan Reading for today: November 24th Ruth 3/James 4 Ruth 3 – It is neat to see how Boaz watches over Ruth and does not take advantage of her, in her vulnerable state. Boaz shows the type of character he has! James 4 – We are to live humble lives! The reality of it is, we don’t deserve anything we are given and yet God graciously gives us so much! May we live in such a way that we consciously recognize and realize that we are to pursue a life that is holy and pleasing to the Lord! “Not to us but to YOUR NAME LORD be the glory”!! Hey All,
Just a quick blog to let you all know we won our game against Adana Aski 74-66!! I will write more tomorrow. We got home at 2 a.m. from a long afternoon and evening of travel back to Istanbul. We have tomorrow off which is really nice. I also want to mention, that 6 months from today I get to marry the man of my dreams!! I can't wait :) God is so so good and gracious! God bless, Megan Hey All,
Today was a pretty chill day, which was nice!! It has been cold and rainy the past few days which hasn't been too fun. We had practice this evening and that was about it really. Tomorrow we play at 2:00 p.m. which is 7:00 a.m. EST against Adana ASKI. You may recognize a new name on our roster (Bahar Ozturk) tomorrow. She is an American player who has a Turkish passport so she is considered a Turkish player, and she came today. I will let you know how the game goes. I think only live stats are available tomorrow, so you can follow those stats under "Info on following games". After the game we will head back to Istanbul, but won’t get back until pretty late. I will let you all know how the game goes. God bless, Megan Reading for the day: November 22nd Psalm 47 Psalm 47 – May we never cease to praise the Lord Most High. He truly is worthy of ALL of our praise. Hey All,
Today was a LONG day of travel. I left the apartment at 6:00 a.m. and we didn't make it to the hotel until around 2:00 p.m. here in Ordu so it was a tough day of travel. It consisted of an hour drive to the airport, an hour and a half flight to Trabzon, waiting an hour for the bus, then a two and a half hour bus ride to Ordu. Thankfully I got to sleep a little bit this afternoon and then it was practice time. It is cold and rainy here, so not too great of travel weather. Practice was lighter today since we are all pretty tired, so I was thankful for the coach being gracious with that. We will be able to sleep in tomorrow and then we have practice around 4:00 p.m. We are hoping to get a BIG win on Sunday!! I will write more tomorrow and post details of how to follow the game on Sunday. Sunday's game time is at 7:00 a.m. EST. Continued prayers for safety and strength as we finish out the first half of the season in the next month or so!! God bless, Megan Reading for the day: November 21st Ruth 2/James 3 Ruth 2 – The Lord provides food for Naomi and Ruth! Boaz takes care of them and even tells some of his workers to leave behind extra barley for them. What an awesome example of the Lord using His servant Boaz to bless and redeem Naomi and Ruth. James 3 – The Lord created every human being with a tongue. With our tongues we have the capability to encourage or discourage. When we seek to follow after the Lord He fills us with wisdom and we are then able to extend mercy, grace, and peace despite the situations around us. |
Info:I am currently playing basketball professionally. The Lord has blessed me with so many opportunities. I hope to be able to share some of my experiences with you! Archives
