So we won our game against Besiktas today. The coach has given us some time off, so I will be leaving to go see one of my previous teammates. She lives in Croatia, so I am excited to see her. We have one more game to finish out the regular season which will be next Wednesday. We play against Ordu who is not a good team now that all of their foreigners have left as well as their good Turkish players because they are in a bad financial situation.

It is hard to believe that another year has come and gone and I am turning another year older. I want to give a BIG birthday shout out to my sisters. What a blessing you have been and are in my life as well as many others. I am so thankful the Lord allowed me to share a birthday with you both. I am also extremely proud of how hard you have worked to get to where you are today. You have an enormous opportunity to impact people's lives daily with your jobs. I love you both.
Today has been a good day here. I was able to sleep in a little bit and then we had practice. The team got me a birthday cake which was really nice. I didn't eat any of it though because I haven't been doing any sweets this month of March. I will have to splurge a little bit when April 1st comes. Tomorrow we play against Besiktas at 6:00 p.m. which is 11:00 a.m. EST. I will be sure to let you know how it goes. If we win the game we still have a chance to make playoffs. If we lose the game then our playoff chances are no more. I am not playing in the game tomorrow so I will be going tomorrow morning to get a workout in before heading to the gym with the team for the game in the afternoon. The season is getting close to finishing. God bless, Megan Not too much to post today here. I slept in a little bit and then we left early for practice. We had film followed by practice. I took the metro home after practice and have been able to relax this evening. Our next game is on Wednesday against Besiktas at home at 11:00 a.m. EST. Our last game of the season against Ordu will be next Wednesday April 6th. If we make playoffs I foresee those probably starting April 9th is my guess, and if we don't make playoffs we will be heading home soon.
God bless, Megan So thankful we serve a RISEN God! Happy Easter everyone :). Today was pretty unique here for me. The US Embassy sent out a warning yesterday saying that threats had been received from ISIL that places of worship in Turkey could be attacked. After seeing this official message, I thought it best to not go to the normal church that I go to just to be smart. I texted a few of my friends last night, and they agreed, so 7 of us ended up meeting at one of the ladies apartments and we had "house church". We had an amazing time of worship, prayer, listened to a message online, and then we had communion. After church we all went out to eat which was fun. I was reminded today of how special it is to be able to have the religious freedom that we do in America. Unfortunately as time goes on, we are seeing more and more "freedoms" stripped away from us.
Something that was interesting in the message today that we listened to online was when the pastor was talking about the parable of the lost sheep. What symbol do we normally think about when we think about Christianity? Typically I would say people would blurt out "the cross". The cross is an extremely important part of being a Christian...without Jesus going to the cross you or I could not be saved. The pastor then went on to say that the very first symbol of Christianity was a shepherd carrying a sheep. Sheep are pretty "dumb" when it comes to living. They can easily get lost or stray away from the flock. How amazing is it that we serve a God (our Great Shepherd) who pursues us (the lost sheep). There is absolutely nothing we can do to "earn" our salvation...the Lord offers it freely; just like there is nothing that a sheep can do to find its way back to the flock. The shepherd must go and rescue the sheep and carry it back to the flock. May we take the time this coming week to lend an extra hand or take the time to stop and be thankful for the Great Shepherd. I hope you all were refreshed today. If you have never accepted Jesus into your heart and life, I challenge you that today is the day. On this day, what a blessing it is to reflect on the many sacrifices that have been made for us...the ULTIMATE ONE being Jesus dying for you and for me. Tomorrow it is back to the practice floor for us. We will be practicing on Monday and Tuesday and then playing again on Wednesday. I plan on relaxing the rest of the evening. We lost an hour of sleep today, so we are now back to a 7 hour time difference. “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:54–57) God bless, Megan Hey All,
I just wanted to let you know we lost today 74-54. It was a pretty tough game down the stretch. Tomorrow we have off which is nice. We spring forward an hour tomorrow so we will be back to a 7 hour time difference again. Our next game will be a home game against Besiktas on Wednesday. God bless, Megan Hey All,
Today has been another great day. We had practice on the European side. Things have seemed to stabilize and calm down since the recent suicide bombing a little while ago. I decided to take the metro back with a couple of my Turkish teammates so that we would not have to fight the traffic on the team bus on the way back. We made it back safely. Tomorrow we play Galatasaray. I will be cheering my team on from the sidelines again, but the season is winding down so that is good. We have 3 regular season games left. Tomorrow we play at 9:00 a.m. EST which is 3:00 p.m. Our clocks will go forward early Sunday morning on Easter. I will let you know tomorrow how the game goes via my blog. May we all take time these next few days to bask in God's goodness, mercy, and grace. We have so much to be thankful for. I am so thankful we serve a LIVING God. How amazing is that? May we not take for granted the religious freedom that we have. There are so many lost people in our world. My prayer for myself and for you is that we would be bold in our faith and that we would be willing to share our testimony with those that we come in contact with. Thankful for "Good Friday"!! God bless, Megan Today was great here. I slept in some and then we had practice this afternoon. After practice one of my teammates came over and I taught her how to make chocolate chip cookies. We had a lot of fun together. This evening I have been relaxing and then I also facetimed my husband. Today marks being married to Caleb for 10 months. I have had a blast these last 10 months, and look forward to seeing what the Lord has in store for us as we continue in this journey together. I love you Caleb! I am posting a picture from our wedding day below.
Bed time for me here. We have practice again tomorrow and then I plan on relaxing in the evening. God bless, Megan Hey All,
So thankful for a rest day :) It was a blessing to be able to spend time with 3 girls I have gotten to know here from a mutual friend. How amazing to be able to hang out with fellow Believer's and be able to engage and have amazing fellowship time together. I left the house this morning at 9:15 a.m. and didn't walk into my apartment until 10:30 p.m. The girls have been a true blessing in my life during this basketball season and I am so thankful for that! Tomorrow it is back to the practice floor for us! Below is a picture that I took with my friend Jen. We actually both were at Liberty simultaneously for one year, but didn't even realize it. It is going to be a shorter blog again tonight. I didn't plan on being out this long today, but it was worth it! God bless, Megan Hey All,
Today was a great day! We had lifting followed by some basketball shooting. I then stayed and biked for 30 minutes on the bike (10 miles). Was fun to get a little sweat on. Our next game is on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. which is 9:00 a.m. EST. On Sunday we will spring forward and lose an hour so then we will be back to a 7 hour time difference. Tomorrow we have one practice in the afternoon and then Thursday we have lifting followed by basketball. It should be a pretty normal week here. Today it was close to 70 degrees outside which was really nice :). It was great to be able to walk outside in a t-shirt. I also made some chicken and noodle soup for dinner which was really good! Well I am going to chill a little bit then head to bed. Gnight, Megan |
Info:I am currently playing basketball professionally. The Lord has blessed me with so many opportunities. I hope to be able to share some of my experiences with you! Archives
