Hey Hey,
Today has been another good day :) We had one practice today which happened to be in the morning, so I had the rest of the day to relax. We got told yesterday that practice was in the morning, but I am not complaining. For lunch today, I decided to branch away from my typical meals, and decided to go with a salad. I cut up some lettuce, added tomatoes, eggs, cheese, and chicken. They have some packets here that you just add water and oil to make salad dressing, so I decided to try my hand at making some dressing from the packet - I have to say it turned out great :)
Well, I am going to relax the rest of the evening. Tomorrow we have a team lunch at 2:00 p.m., and then we head to Poznan. We play tomorrow at 7:15 which is 1:15 EST. You can follow live stats I believe, but that is it.
12 days... :)
Verse of the Day:
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
2 Corinthians 6:14
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
There is probably no other Scripture that has produced more conflict for ministers than this one. While not applying just to marriage, this verse is a powerful reminder that when we make life-long partnerships with those who do not share our deepest values, we are endangering our spiritual health. Just as God would not allow the Israelites under the Law to yoke a donkey and an ox together because it would ultimately break them both down, Paul reminds Christians that the same is true in their deepest relationships as well.
My Utmost For His Highest:
If we do not sacrifice the natural to the spiritual, the natural life will resist and defy the life of the Son of God in us and will produce continual turmoil. This is always the result of an undisciplined spiritual nature. We go wrong because we stubbornly refuse to discipline ourselves physically, morally, or mentally. We excuse ourselves by saying, “Well, I wasn’t taught to be disciplined when I was a child.” Then discipline yourself now! If you don’t, you will ruin your entire personal life for God.
The Lord showed us the perfect example of sacrifice, when He allowed his son to die on the cross for us. We may not have to lose our life physically for our faith, but we must be willing. You think about all the martyrs that have gone on before us. They sacrificed their lives for their belief in the Lord. Sacrifice is not always pleasant, but it is beneficial. Sacrifice is not always easy, but it is rewarding. The Lord knows each of our hearts. Is there something in my life or your life that you need to be willing to sacrifice? Maybe it is giving something to someone in need, maybe it is spending more time with a friend, maybe it is sacrificing time to spend time with the Lord. When we sacrifice ourselves for the Lord, there is no sacrifice too big. We can never DO enough to earn our salvation. Salvation is a FREE gift. I do believe though, that when we begin a legitimate relationship with the Lord, it will be evidenced in our sacrifice for Him, after all, He sacrificed for us!!
