Today was a fun day reaching out to the community. We drove up north to a town called Shefaram. It is a small town that is near Galilee and is comprised of Jews, Christians, and Muslims. We had a fun time interacting and playing with some of the up and coming future basketball players of Israel.
This evening I took a nap which was really nice and then I plan on relaxing the rest of the day. We found out today that we will not be playing until next Wednesday. Unofficially the schedule will be:
TOP 6 GAMES (5 TOTAL):
Wednesday, February 12th - @ Ramat Chen
Wednesday, February 19th - @Hertziliya
Wednesday, February 26th - Rishon
Wednesday, March 12th - @Ramla
Wednesday, March 19th - Ashdod
CUP GAMES:
Monday, March 3rd - Ramat Chen (semi-final)
Wednesday March 6th - CHAMPIONSHIP of CUP (will play if we win on March 3rd)
So, all that to say we will definitely be here through March 19th. You can see below the standings going into the TOP 6! Because we have a 3 game lead against the 5th and 6th place teams, it would almost require a miracle by one of those teams to beat us out and make it to the Final Four. We will now carry our 9-7 record into these next 5 games. At the end of these next 5 games the teams with the TOP 4 records will advance to the FINAL FOUR which tentatively is set to start on Sunday March 23rd.
God bless,
Megan
Reading for the day:
February 4th
Genesis 25/Acts 1
Genesis 25 – I always find this chapter fascinating. It is amazing to me that Esau would sell Jacob his birthright for a pot of stew. Part of me wonders if Esau deep down inside thought that Jacob would never hold him to it. It is also interesting to me how the Bible says that Rebekah loved Jacob more and Isaac loved Esau more. I think we can take away a couple lessons here. One lesson is to not act in haste. Esau was not thinking about the big picture when he sold his birthright, rather he was thinking about the present and the fact that he was hungry. Also, I think parents need to make sure that the try to show the same kind of love to all of their kids. What an amazing opportunities parents have to be able to "train up a child in the way they should go".
Acts 1 – In this chapter Judas is replaced by Matthias. What an honor it must have been to be one of the 12 disciples.
