“Grace Is The New Black” – Message #2
Colossians 3:12
James 1 – The highest expression of faith is that we leverage our faith to such a point where we get nothing back.
Grace never goes out of style.
"Grace Clothing of Christ" – What does it look like?
1. Compassion
- Jesus brought compassion into this world
- 2. Kindness
- You do good things with kindness.
- You can show goodness and not be kind.
- 3. Humility
- Resume Virtues – ACT score, sports awards, etc. - identity taken away in an instance.
- Eulogy Virtues - displaying Christ - identity in Christ
- Humility is no superiority and no inferiority.
- Chooses to put others first.
- A sense of equality
- It is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less.
- 4. Gentleness
- Power under control
- Meekness is not weakness
- 5. Patience
- Ability to endure fools.
- To be able to put up with insults.
- Humility is ties to patience.
“Compassion. Kindness. Humility. Gentleness. Patience. The fine clothes of Christ. Expensive attire from the Messiah. That can be who you are. He can be how you see yourself.”
Who or what is your identity in?
What a great reminder for me to hear this message. I have been in a unique situation over here in Turkey in which a lot of humility and patience has been needed and used. I hope you all have a great week ahead. May we check ourselves and see how we are living out our lives on a daily basis.
God bless,
Megan
